Oddie B. Williams

Oddie B. Williams passed away on November 9, 2012 at his home in Sweetwater, Texas. He was 97 years old.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Highland Heights United Methodist Church. Reverend Joseph Garnett and Reverend Claude McKiddy will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams was born on April 29, 1915 in Milam County, Texas. He married Bernice Taylor on September 19, 1934 in Milam County, Texas. Oddie retired from Lone Star Industrial after 35 years. He pastored at AME Church in Eastland and Snyder, Texas. He was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church where he served as a Steward and associated minister. He also was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church. He was a longtime member of the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by: One sister- Ruthie Nelson of Lamesa, Texas; Two Sons- Webster Williams and his wife, Phyllis, of Sweetwater, Harold Williams and his wife, Sherry, of Sweetwater; Four daughters- Agnes Johnson of San Bernardino, CA, Versie Perry of Sweetwater, Harriett Washington and her husband, J.C., of Sweetwater, and Kay Baker and her husband, Don, of Fontana, CA; 18 Grandchildren; 35 Great-Grandchildren; 36 Great Great-Granchildren; and 21 Great Great Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Williams, his parents, Andy Williams and Bertha Saddler, three sisters- Harvie Gentry, Girtha Moore and Thelma Staten, one son, Larriett, and one daughter, Ruthie Nell Dorsey.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and his great-grandsons.
